These fairy tales are based on very old Eastern European and Asian fairy tales, most of which are unknown to the West. The classic fairy tales we know today, such as Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, were originally passed on orally from generation to generation until eventually they were written down, such as by the Brothers Grimm, only to name the most popular example. These Eastern European fairy tales (a lot of them are from the former Soviet Union), too, were eventually passed on in writing, but they are not as widely known as the classic tales.
This is the first volume of a series in which these beautiful stories, based on their German editions, are being retold in English in order to make them more widely available, and not lost.
