I am a Shar-Pei and I am going to share my story with you and hopefully provide some common doggie logic to help you have a better understanding of your new family member and give you some insight as to why we do what we do plus some very handy training tips for your new puppy whatever the breed maybe.

There are no hard and fast rules to follow choosing the breed of your puppy. We have all heard good and bad stories about all breeds of puppies that have been brought into our friends and families households in the past. Just remember that great puppies and dogs can come from the top breeders to a lovable mutt found at the local dog pound or anywhere in-between. For every great story you also hear of the nightmare puppy that seems to have been sent here just to make your life as miserable as possible. Whatever breed or where you choose to get your puppy from is not the only factor you need to consider in bringing a new puppy into your family.

What type of dog do you want to live with for the next 15 years? Do you live in the country or an apartment in the city? Do you want a fully active dog requiring a lot of your time and do you have the space for him or her to run around? Are you more suited to a dog that’s more than happy to laze around while you checkout TV from the couch? There is a breed of puppy out there for whatever your needs may be. Do a little research to make sure your lifestyles are suited to each other and you can both have a long loving and happy relationship. Choosing a canine mate is no different and no less work than your choice of a human mate – think long term.
