The time is the Great Depression of the 1930s, and Jack Bloomberg, a costume jewelry salesman in Philadelphia, is broke. Kissing his beloved wife Sarah goodbye, he and sets out in an old jalopy, carrying his inventory, for boom-town Miami Beach. This is the story of his remarkable adventures as he is swallowed up by the Deep South.
