Erotic poetry from Emy Naso.
Because you said you love me
I looked in the mirror
this morning and thought,
“What a lovely sight,”
it wasn’t true but
my eyes only saw
soft edged, rosy-tinted
romantic-crayoned images —
Because you said you love me.
I ran for the bus
on the way to work
got overtaken
by most of the queue
and was almost last,
but I felt so good,
like a gold awarded athlete
bursting tape, podium high —
Because you said you love me.
Never moaned today,
never once
not even when the boss
told me I was useless,
perhaps he didn’t know
I’m much younger than before
with strawberry flavored,
sweet idiot-blessed smiles —
Because you said you love me.
Silly grin, sun kissed face,
talking to strangers and
walking in parks,
whistling happy tunes
incessantly, my friends tell me:
feeling like a crazy kid,
mellow mystic memories
in haze day dreams —
Because you said you love me.
