This book is a study of how Jesus practiced religious tolerance principally as recorded by the writers of the Gospels. It shows how Jesus’ beliefs were grounded in the Hebrew Scriptures and it incorporates a consistent message from Genesis through Revelation as understood and enacted by Jesus. The book documents how he dealt with persons on the fringe of the first century Jewish society. It shows how Jesus interacted with the despised Samaritans, the hated tax collectors and the fertility worshipping Canaanites. The thrust of the book is to demonstrate for Christians the behavior Jesus expects of them as his followers. It leads them to understand their role in accepting others of diverse religious beliefs while developing opportunities to share the Gospel with them.
