It is May 1900 and Elizabeth Crawford has left her beloved home in the country to live in the city at her parents’ request. She has an instant connection with Jonathan Moore, one of the boarders where she now lives and works. The day after Christmas, Jonathan leaves to find work elsewhere. A few months later, another boarder, William Berkley, is vying for Elizabeth’s attention. He requests the honor of escorting her to church. Elizabeth nervously accepts and by the end of the sermon feels obligated to marry him.
Will this marriage of obligation bloom and produce the children she longs for? Will Elizabeth ever see Jonathan again? What is God’s will for her?
