A young penguin is kidnapped from a zoo by hapless twins.Freddy is happy soul. A routine of fish-swim-fish is all a penguin can dream of, at least if all he has ever known is the zoo. Joe and Rose are ten year-old twins who have just about everything, but not a penguin. When an opportunity presents itself at the zoo, they decide to kidnap one and take it home. Freddy's adventure begins, as he is taken in a rucksack by the terrified twins into a strange world of bathtubs, tinned sardines and small, bickering humans. He has a brush with death, before coming spectacularly back to life and having an epiphany at the seaside. Freddy is finally returned to the zoo and reunited with his fellow-penguins in their enclosure. But his stories of the sea stir up a deep longing within them all.
