High school senior Elliot Harris is poised to conquer the world as the next big Rock Star. He has the guitar... the skill... the hot girlfriend. But Uncle Eli, Elliot’s guitar hero, returns from Iraq with deep physical and mental scars.
As Elliot suffers phantom pains that match his uncle’s wounds, his best friend and bass player leaves the band, the local football team pummels his oldest friend after he is outted on a social networking site, and the principal busts his favorite teacher for surfing porn on the school’s network. Elliot’s life spirals into the toilet as his talented girlfriend collapses and has to be taken to the hospital. Instead of challenging the monsters head on, Elliot retreats into a self-destructive binge which might just send this Rock Star into oblivion.
