"“Doc,” Bradshaw whispered, “how many enemies are we looking at here?”

Marcus felt his mind freeze for a second. Enemies? What did he mean by that?
Gideon had just started telling him a grand story about who he was and what he was fighting for, and Marcus was dying to hear more of it. In the last few hours, Marcus had grown to like the tall, long haired stranger. It was now clear to Marcus that Gideon had captured the Marines for a reason, a good and noble reason.

“Doc…” Bradshaw said softly, “how many of them are there?”

Them? Marcus thought about that for a moment. These people were now comrades, they were not supposed to be referred to as ‘them.’

“Sir…they are the Mushafferi people…they are inhabitants of this world…and they are fighting for…their freedom.”

Bradshaw hissed, “Lieutenant Duffy! We are being held prisoner against our will! These people are keeping us from completing our mission! THEY ARE THE ENEMY!!”"
