There once existed a small, but historically important, area that laid between Twentynine Palms, California, and the Arizona state line, which was dubbed No Man's Land California by the Los Angeles Times in 1916. The center of No Man's Land California was the once thriving and vital community known as Blythe Junction; commonly referred to as Rice today. Many people toiled in the harsh desert climate in and surrounding Blythe Junction, but few personal accounts still exist; as such, the stories and pictures contained within this publication is valuable evidence of its existence and historical importance.
