The Plateaus Trilogy

About the trilogy:
The trilogy is simply about a father and thirteen year old son. It is also about situations beyond their control that can and will influence their lives. Therefore the title Sudden Changes does seem appropriate.

In a very condensed description our heroes meet up with two aliens who unfortunately become marooned in the American Southwest. The rest of the trilogy follows the dialogue of, “what would you do in this situation.” It becomes a wild ride after the original encounter. However, the plot is not a fantasy with elves and dragons. The theme of “it could happen to you” softens the science fiction genre in which it would be classified.

The first novel Sudden Changes was written as a challenge to my own son. During his seventh grade summer vacation I asked him to write a short story about anything. His comment was simple, “Dad, I’ll write one if you’ll write one.” Well, fate did have its way and after I finished my “story” and asked to read his. He gave me the classic blank look of a teenager. But I was definitely hooked on the longer narrative.

At that time in my life I was creating the fishing program, Reelin’ and Rockin’, and the medium of audio/ video had me captured. Quickly two more novels, The Rise to Power and Mind Games, came to life and, as I wrote these novels I pictured the story being viewed on the big screen. Therefore, I have found that the novels are quite the source of youthful enjoyment as well as an educating experience.

The readers, both teen and adult, also like the presence of the “bad guys” the Nudicks. These nasty aliens somehow, by design, have made their way into each of the trilogy’s stories. However, do not expect me to describe too much in the way of any personal descriptions. I will leave much of that to your imagination. The trilogy is not rated by any organization but in my mind it is rated G. Each of the three novels are unique unto itself…. Please enjoy yourself- it was my pleasure writing these novels for you.
