The Bedouin is a romantic comedy.
Jake and Marcia Friedman, mid-forties and from Long Island, are on a family tour of Israel when Jake suddenly finds himself left behind, floating on his back on the Dead Sea. The tour bus has taken off with his wife and eighteen year old twins, leaving him stranded. Jake, a successful roof fixer in New York, tries sprinting after the departing bus, but to no avail. He sees his wife and kids, sitting on the back seat, disappearing out of view between the desert dunes. Forgotten and alone, far away from home and angry at his wife, Jake becomes a Bedouin. And with no roofs in need of repair in the desert, he finds another way to make a living. He opens a tent and gives marriage counseling to anyone who dares to step inside. This is the novel that makes couples laugh and fall in love all over again.
