An Abridgement of the Architecture of Vitruvius Containing a System of the Whole Works of that Author has been edited by Perrault. This work is the only surviving major book on architecture from classical antiquity. Marcus Vitruvius Pollio (born c. 80-70 BC, died after c. 15 BC) was a Roman writer, architect and engineer active in the 1st century BC.
