This is a story about how easily a love affair can change everything in an otherwise smooth and endearing marriage. That is to say that from one side it was love but from the other, something more... A deliberate betrayal, arranged with an ulterior and corrupt motive, involving characters lost to each other for decades and suddenly rekindled. With an intrigue of thrills, mayhem and espionage, the leading character is overwhelmed by all that befalls him and the guilt that trails in its wake. Some episodes contain material of an adult nature...... It was around 5.15 on this cold and dark, autumn morning. Mike had been tossing and turning for some time, unable to sleep peacefully. How long, he did not know. It seemed a lot longer than it probably was, but the battle to sleep had most definitely been lost. He sat up, rubbed his eyes in anger and poised himself before making any further movement. In the distance he could hear the build-up of traffic, closer yet, a bird or two chirpily preparing for the chorus that would welcome the dawn. He knew that it must be close to daybreak as he peered across the room trying to make out the time on the clock that was ticking silently on the cabinet next to her side of the bed. He felt wretched. His throat was dry, his head ached and the lack of sleep aligned with the over indulgence in alcohol last evening was causing him to suffer from the effects of a major hangover. She stirred. ‘What’s up?’ ‘Nothing’ he replied, ‘go back to sleep’. ‘Shall I put on the light?’ she offered. ‘No, I’ll manage!’ was his abrupt reply - though with what he had not yet worked out. He sat there for a while longer; feeling somehow robbed of his entitlement to sleep. He was angry and tired and thirsty and this was getting him nowhere! He decided to get up. Maybe watch TV or something. He did not want to wake her again. He pulled back the quilt in preparation, lowering one leg to the floor and then looked at her laying with her back to him, bundled beneath the quilt. What had he done?..
