"Living the 12 Steps of Recovery" is a series of daily essays in a classical revival of recovery principles: The Twelve Steps and Traditions. These spiritual guidelines have been the foundation of fellowships like A.A. (their originator) and N.A. since their inception in the early 1930's and 1950's, respectively.

Each month has a frontispiece original drawing of persons contemplating the spiritual essence of its Step and Tradition and there are after chapter blank pages for personal journaling or notes. It further includes two appendices on the history and concepts of Prayer and Meditation, the skill set used by so many to fill the void left by their addictions, as they seek emotional balance through their own definition and practice of spirituality.

Arthur Messenger, is a nom de plume for the author, living in the United States Pacific Northwest. He is himself a recovering alcoholic with ten years of sobriety, a background in communications with 20 years of writing experiences.

The book was most recently named Book of The Month for In The Rooms.com, the largest on-line recovery fellowship in the world, with over 200 copies in 12 American States, Canada, U.K. and Australia.
