This book portrays the imprisonment of an older man for the ‘crime’ of running a brothel in the northern Quaker town of Darlington. Starting with the day of sentence and whilst enduring the senseless and inhumane prison regime explicit recollections of the day to day happenings in the brothel. This married man was having an affair with a pretty 22 year old girl prior to and at the time of sentence and all is accidentally discovered and revealed to his wife whilst inside, which leads to much heartache all round. It shows, through his eyes, the petty way the prison system runs and the cold indifference of a system supposed to support and retrain the inmate for a useful life in society. It portrays the lawyer that thrives on state money, yet not even doing the very basics, yet alone the best for the client. It concludes with release day, the man having been completely stitched up by the system through the negligent solicitor and still looming overhead is a £2.1 million confiscation order trial yet to follow; does he get released to his wife or girlfriend, or nobody?
Who is this man? ……… It’s me, now 66 years old, I
was 60 at the day of the sentence.
Is it a story? ………..No, it’s true, everything is as it happened but some names have been changed …..This book covers just a portion of the goings on in and about this establishment.
I have never read a book from cover to cover in my life as I suffer dyslexia, but made comprehensive notes whilst inside to have this objective to keep me from the intolerable boredom. I wrote this book to vanity publish as I believe it to be fascinating for those amongst you with an open enquiring mind. Please be mindful of my lack of writing experience when it comes to grammar, etc, but I wrote it the way it happened.
I would never have believed in 1999, just 5 years earlier that I would ever run a brothel. Read how it came about ……… see how I was surrounded by temptation to cheat on my wife and succumbed. Read how it almost ruined my life.
Then read the follow on book, that I am now working on, of how wrong that confiscation order went and what I had to do to cope with it, and how I put my life back together bit by bit and how I now aim revenge on that very same system that was so unjust. As this goes to publishing I am in the process of issuing a court case for negligence against my defence lawyer and am out to “Get” an older gentleman who presented himself at my house one day and asked to help me as he was a Barrister in Europe, Poland to be exact, and that he wanted to make my case a triumph in the Human Rights Court before he retired.
I was very wary, but never let him know…. He was of course the worst type of criminal, a “Con Man” who sought to pray on me when I was already down and nearly out.
