Way back in 2008, Americans got a taste of the future when gasoline prices started to do an imitation of a Saturn V rocket. Just a small taste, because the resulting economic repercussions brought the price of gasoline back down to a tolerable level, with resulting high unemployment that dropped demand.
But this price drop can only be seen as temporary, and numerous changes are on the horizon for America, including higher prices for gasoline, rationing, movement to greater conservation techniques such as telecommuting with a resulting economic impact on commercial real estate, etc.
