After a deadly virus destroys all life on earth, machines remain to flourish and evolve for centuries. But for all their advancements they realize they are doomed, and must look to the past for help.

A small scrap of Einstein's brain is all that remains of humanity. In their desperation the machines do all they can to clone this morsel, but only succeed in making pieces of a living Einstein, not the whole man.

With no other hope the machines stitch these fragments together and push the resulting monstrosity back in time. Will the plan succeed? Can the monster save humanity, and in doing so, save the future of machines?
