Conscripted into service as a member of the city watch to avoid going to jail, Jade is reasonably content to serve her time without complaint. It is far better than spending the next several months in a cage. Being a guard does little to interfere with her other job, the one that she does not want anyone to know about. Life is good, until she is approached one day by a man who knows to much about her. She can not allow herself to be exposed, so she reluctantly accepts his obscure offer with the intention of discovering the man’s motives. She had planned on going after a serial killer within the city nicknamed the Reaper in her spare time. The reward for the Reaper is tremendous. Citizens are terrified that the Reaper will come after them in the night. She is convinced that most of them are so panic stricken that their imaginations have ran wild by assigning supernatural characteristics to a common murderer.
