Social Satire in the Language of PoetryAnonymous Rising:The Moon Is In Uranus is social satire dressed in the language of rhyming poetry. It is an irreverent glimpse of frustrations inherent in this daily job we call "Life". Nothing is sacred...all is skewed...hence all is normal. When society tries to force people to conform they rebel. They rebel because the Almighty System gets more and more ludicrous all the time. I view this work as a body of nothing but that is misleading because it is about everything that is near and dear to us. We all have to deal with medicine; the legal system; taxes; consumerism; what to eat; what to drink; what is or is not politically correct. I'm too fat; I'm too thin; the search for perfection; sex or the lack thereof; relationships gone awry; men; women; identity issues; computers; couch potatoes; angry women; name-droppers; medical insurance or the lack of - the frustrations are endless.I wrote this text on a whim and a dare when I lived in a building in San Francisco that housed primarily creative sorts. There was a gal there who was teaching school-age youngsters about poetry. She said she had a Master's in Poetry. A Master's in Poetry? What on earth can anyone do with a Master's in Poetry? I truly wondered. Quite frankly it sounded like a totally useless degree to me. One never knows where inspiration will come from. What this gal inspired me to do was write a poem each and everyday for about four months. I never knew what the theme would be. I would simply ask the Universe, My Angels to give me a topic. Invariably a topic would pop up for me. What surprised me the most that my poems would come up rhyming and humorous.
