Mór Jókai (1825-1904) was a Hungarian dramatist and novelist. He supported the failed revolution of 1848, and upon the re-establishment of the Hungarian constitution in 1867, he took an active part in politics, serving in parliament and editing the government organ, Hon, founded by him in 1863. As an extremely prolific writer he was an arch-romantic. “Thirteen at the Table” is a short mystery story.
