An essay written from a personal viewpoint of somebody suffering from clinical depression. It is intended to be read by those close to people suffering from clinical depression, so that they can gain a better understanding of the illness, of the person's behavior, of their character and courage. Those who are suffering are also encouraged to read this essay to know that they are not alone. Be warned: this is painful reading! However, if you have lost a loved one to this dreadful illness you may find comfort in the knowledge that they are no longer suffering. If you are angry with them for taking their own life, you may find forgiveness. I do not advocate for suicide; in fact the essay does just the opposite. But after your read it, you may understand why someone would take their own life.
